Want to make your Cities: Skylines metropolis even prettier? A next-gen upgrade is arriving next week.
Even better, this Cities: Skylines upgrade is free, so you won’t have to pay a penny to give your cities a big boost… well, assuming they’re not terrible, that is. We have to admit that, as much as we get a kick out of this city builder, we’ve had some real disasters on our hands.
This upgrade turns Cities: Skylines into Cities: Skylines Remastered, which will also be available separately. Aside from a general performance increase, it’ll also add some other upgrades, such as extra buildable tiles.
According to publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Colossal Order Ltd, those improvements are as follows:
- 25 buildable tiles!
- Quick selection tool
- UX Improvements (such as precision placements, distance indicator and updated snapping options)
- New environmental controls panel (adjust things like time of day, rain, fog, and environment colouring)
- Map Editor
The PC version of Cities: Skylines has had a map editor for a while but it’s set to be new fixture on consoles. Colossal haven’t confirmed whether the map editor will also be coming to last-gen consoles, though we’d hope it will, eventually.
Cities: Skylines launched back in 2015 but instead of putting out a sequel, Colossal and Paradox have, perhaps wisely, delivered various pieces of DLC over the years. The upgrade will be available this February 15th and if you’ve yet to get into Cities: Skylines you can check out our review here.
