Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is coming to PC and console this month, giving Castlevania fans the chance to take on some familiar foes.
Return to Castlevania is paid Dead Cells DLC but, going by what we’ve seen so far, it should be worth it. It’s also the most Castlevania content fans have seen in quite a while. It looks as if, as is the case with Silent Hill, Konami (who own the rights to the side-on action series) are seeing what other developers can do with the series.
According to developer Motion Twin’s interview with Game Informer, the DLC will be twice the size of any previous DLC. It’ll see you taking on, amongst other foes, Dracula and Death. You remember Death, right? The absolute swine who took away all your special abilities five seconds after Castlevania: Symphony of the Night started?
What’s going to be especially interesting about this DLC is that it’ll still be run-based. Castlevania games generally feature checkpoints and sometimes save points. Whereas here, when you die, you’re done for that run through. Given how excellent Dead Cells is, we’re looking forward to see how Motion Twin have pulled it off.
Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, which requires the full version of Dead Cells, arrives this March 6th. Unlike some previous content, it’ll launch simultaneously on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Switch. It’s priced at $9.99 and is availble for pre-order it on console and PC (via Steam)
