
It’s a Nintendo Direct day! A proper Nintendo Direct day.
If you missed the live broadcast, worry not: we’ve rounded up everything that was revealed right here. Over 40 minutes, we’ve got our eyes on a good number of games – and some we’re rather excited about.
Without further ado, here’s everything revealed during the Nintendo Direct stream, and it’s all coming to Switch in the near future.
Pikmin 4 is out on 21st July
Those helpful little plant creatures are back with Pikmin 4. It’s not a new announcement: we’ve known about the game since September 2022. But we got a brand new trailer showing the game in action, and the sorts of cool actions you’ll be able to perform with your tiny posse. It also introduced a new character: a dog of sorts, who can perform new actions. It now has a release date: 21st July.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is getting more content
We got a look at Volume 3 and 4 of Xenoblade Chronicle 3’s expansion pass. Volume 3 is out on 16th February – next week.
There’s a new Samda de Amigo game!
Samba de Amigo: Party Central is coming to Switch this summer. Remember Samba de Amigo? The maracas-wielding monkey is back for a new rhythm game, featuring over 40 songs from a range of genres.
Fashion Dreamer is revealed
From Marvelous, Fashion Dreamer lets you live the life of a fashion influencer. Dress yourself up, design your own clothes, meet new people and steal their outfits (yes, literally), and more. Connect online to grow your friend circle andyour brand. It’s coming at some point in 2023
Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania is out on 6th March
We got a new look at Dead Cells’ upcoming DLC which takes us back to Castlevania. It’s out next month, and it’s undoubtedly going to be a must-play for any fan of classic Castlevania games.
TRON: Identity gets a new trailer
Bithell Games’ TRON Identity gives us a new trailer, giving us brief glimpse at its story-driven gameplay. It’s coming first for consoles to Switch this April.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is coming to Switch this summer
Originally released on Nintendo DS, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is getting a Nintendo SWitch release later this year. Play as a ghost, solve puzzles, and try to figure out who killed you.
DecaPolice is revealed
Japanese investigation adventure DecePolice is coming to Switch later this year. From Level5, its visual style reminds us of Neo: The World Ends With You. Looks like you’ll be investigsating crime scenes, making use of speical ‘Deca’ abilities and solving mysteries.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon gets a new trailer
It’s Bayonetta like you’ve never seen her before. This prequel to the popular action game takes the witch into a completely new genre, instead presenting a top-down 2D adventure game. It looks cute, and it’s out on March 17th.
Splatoon 3 is getting new an Expansion Pass
Here’s one for all you Splatoon fans. There’s an Expansion Pass for Splatoon 3, including two waves of content. The first wave is Inkopolis, the city from the first game in the series. There are new weapons and gear for you to buy, and a bunch of new and old characters for you to meet. The first wave is coming this spring. We also got a mysterious tease of Wave 2, called Side Order.
Disney Illusion Island gets a new trailer
We’ve had a look at Illusion Island before: a Disney game featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy in their classsic animated form. It’s a 2D adventure platformer which can be enjoyed by up to four players at once – and it looks beautiful. It’s out on 28th July.
Fire Emblem Engage‘s Expansion Pass Pack 2 is out today
Here’s a look at Fire Emblem Engage‘s upcoming Expansion Pass content. New characters with new abilities are incoming, and there’s a bunch of new missions to undertake, too. Pack 2 is out shortly after this presentation – and Pack 3 and 4 are coming later.
Harmony: The Fall of Reverie is coming to Switch in June
A new game from Dontnod, this is a story-driven adventure with multiple paths to choose from. It looks a far cry from Life is Strange, thanks to its 2D visuals, but it looks beautiful – and we’re interested to find out more.
Octopath Traveler II gets a demo
Coming to Switch, PC and consoles later on 24th February, Octopath Traveler II is getting a demo. You can download it from the eShop later today to see what all the fuss is about.
There’s a new(ish) Katamari game incoming!
We Love Katamari is getting a remaster! We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie is coming to Switch on 2nd June. Get ready for more rolling action. We can’t get enough Katamari, so we’re particularly excited for this one. It has new content, too, including a photo mode and new challenges.
Sea of Stars is out on 29th August
A turn-based RPG, Sea of Stars is coming to Switch on 29th August. It’s one that apes classic RPGs, and it looks beautiful. THere’s going to be a free demo available on eShop today.
Omega Strikers is out this April
We got a look at Omega Strikers, a multiplayer sports game that looks a bit like an action-packed air hockey. It’s coming to Switch this April.
Etrian Odyssey I, II and III are coming to Switch
Remasters of these classic dungeon crawlers are coming to Switch. Draw the dungeons as you explore them, and fight against dangerous foes. THe games are available separately or a collection, and they’re coming this June.
Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-boot Camp finally has a release date
Delayed from last year, Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-boot Camp finally has a new date: it’s out on 21st April. Let’s hope no other world events get in the way between now and then.
Kirby’s Return to DreamLand Deluxe gets a new trailer
Here’s a new trailer for the upcoming Kirby’s Return to DreamLand Deluxe, a remake of a classic Kirby game on Wii. The trailer today focuses on a new Magalor mode, where you must collect points to upgrade his powers. There’ll be a demo of the game available today, too. It’s out on 24th February.
Game Boy Games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online
Finally: Game Boy games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online! At launch, the following games will be available: Tetris, Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Link’s Awakening DX, Gargoyle’s Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid II – Return of Samus, Wario Land 3 and Kirby’s Dream Land. Game Boy Advance games are also getting added if you’re an Expansion+ subscriber. More games will be added in the future to both libraries. They’re available later today!
Metroid Prime Remastered is out today!
Here’s one lots of people have been waiting for: Metroid Prime Remastered is coming to Switch! It’s a remaster of the first Metroid Prime, originally for Game Cube. And it’s out today! Digitally, anyway. A physical version will launch on 3rd March
Master Detective Archives: Rain Code is coming in June
Here’s another detective game with a supernatural slant. Witness past crime scenes, tune into people’s heartbeats and more to solve mysteries. It’s out on Switch on 30th June.
Baten Kaitos I and II Remastered are coming to Switch
These classic RPGs are making their way to Switch. Use cards to battle powerful enemies and quest your way through a mysterious world. Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and originally released on Nintendo Gamecube, and they’ll be available on Switch this summer.
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time is revealed
Explore a mysterious island and travel between past and present as you rebuild an island. It looks like a time-travelling Animal Crossing… with dragons to slay. It’s out at some point this year.
Professor Layton is making a comeback
We got a very brief tease of Professor Layton and the New World of Steam. We know literally nothing about it but: it’s a new Layton game! That’s all we need to know, to be honest.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is getting new content
We get a look at the new content coming to Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass. Eight new courses and a new character are coming this spring.

Of course, the Nintendo Direct had to end with a trailer for the Breath of the Wild sequel we’ve all been waiting for. It looks about as epic as we could expect, giving Link a host of new abilities, means to travel through the sky and more. It’s out on 12th May.
