How to Break Enemy Shields in Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy

Need help breaking through enemy shields when in combat in Hogwarts Legacy? Here’s what you need to know.

It’s very common that certain enemy types will use shields to protect themselves from your attacks whilst in combat. It can be annoying, but thankfully enemy shields are very easy to break through in Hogwarts Legacy. You just need to know the trick to it.

You’ve probably noticed that shields come in three colours: purple, red and yellow. And, funnily enough, your key combat spells also come in three colours: purple, red and yellow. Do you see where we’re going with this? All you need to do is match the colour of the shield with the colour of your spell. For instance, hit a yellow shield with a yellow spell, and the shield will break, leaving the opponent open to take damage.

Purple shields need to be broken with a force spell. That’s Accio, Depulso, Descendo or Flipendo.

Red shields need to be broken with a damage spell. That’s Confringo, Diffindo, Expelliarmus, Bombarda or Incendio.

Yellow shields need to be broken with a control spell. That’s Arresto Momentum, Glacius, Levioso or Transformation.

We find it useful to make sure we have quick access to a spell from each category. That way, you can quickly break any shield without having to cycle through all your spells. Good luck out there!
