War never changes. But that doesn’t stop real-time strategy games constantly experimenting with how to best deliver exhilarating experiences. From one game to the next, we will use different shortcuts and sometimes our muscle memory is just too good to overcome. Here is how to overcome this problem and change your keybinds in Company of Heroes 3.
To change your keybinds in Company of Heroes 3, go to ‘Settings’, either from the menu screen or on the pause screen in a skirmish. From there, go to the ‘Controls’ tab on the left-hand side and you will see a list of common shortcuts.
If you select ‘View and Remap Controls’ at the top right of this tab, you will see every keybind available, separated in several sections such as ‘Game’, ‘Camera’ and ‘Control Groups’. There is also another group of keybind called ‘Grid Keys’ that can be selected to arrange how your bottom right panel is laid out in game.
All of these can be changed easily. Simply left-click either the primary key or secondary key box that corresponds to the chosen order. Company of Heroes 3 will then show a blue bar stating ‘Press Desired Key Now’. Select your new keybind and voila: the keybind has been changed.
If you so chose, you can set up different keybind profiles. Perhaps you share a computer with someone else, or you find different keybinds useful depending on which faction or mission you are playing.
To do so, in the keybind screen, select a new profile and go about setting your keybinds. You can then save this for the future. To switch between the profiles, use the drop down menu at the top right of the keybind screen.
