How to Play Resident Evil Village in VR

Resident Evil Village

Resident Evil Village not scary enough for you? How about playing it in VR, making it all the more immersive?

If you would like to play Resident Evil Village in VR, the first thing to note is that you can only do it officially on PS5. There are mods that allow you to play the PC version with a VR headset, but they’ve not been tested or authorised by Capcom.

So, you’ve got a PS5 and a copy of Resident Evil Village. Do you need anything else for a horrifying VR experience? Yes: a brand spanking new PSVR 2 headset complete with a pair of Sense controllers. They aren’t cheap, but altogether it’s a very impressive piece of kit.

Before you set everything up and get Resident Evil Village downloaded so you can immerse yourself in its world like never before, there’s one final piece to the puzzle.

Unlike games such as Gran Turismo 7, where all you need to do is make sure it’s up to date to enjoy VR, when it comes to Resident Evil Village you need to download an important bit of content. Simply go to the PlayStation Store, search for Resident Evil Village, then look at the add-ons available for it. What you’re after is the free VR mode DLC. Add that to your account and you’re finally all set.

With Resident Evil Village and its VR DLC downloaded and all up to date, all that’s left is to connect your PSVR 2 headset and Sense controllers and launch the game. You’ll then be able to experience the latest entry in the long-running horror saga as if you’re actually there.

Just be aware that there are some caveats. If you’ve already started playing Resident Evil Village, you’ll need to start a new game to play in VR mode. You also can’t carry over bonuses from the original mode, which is a shame. Thankfully, you can switch between VR and non-VR mode on the main menu.
