Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom Hits VR this March

Peaky Blinders: The King's Ransom

Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom arrives on Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4 this March.

It may not cast you as series protagonist Tommy Shelby but Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom will plunge you into the murky world of 1920s Birmingham. And Shelby will get a look in, voiced by original show lead Cillian Murphy.

It’s described as a “immersive narrative VR game” which, based on what we’ve seen so far, means you’ll be a jack of all trades. There’s a little shooting, some bomb disposal and plenty of familiar locations to wander around.

It’s being developed by Maze Theory, developers of, amongst other things, Doctor Who – The Edge of Time and Doctor Who – The Lonely Assassins. We loved The Lonely Assassins but weren’t impressed by The Edge of Time. So we’re hoping Maze Theory can kick this one out of the park.

Your protagonist is a deserter and so you end up seeking out the Peaky Blinders for assistance. You just know that’s going end up being a terrible, terrible decision. But, if you’ve watched the show, you’ll know it’s not all kittens and unicorn dust.

Peaky Blinders: The Kings Ransom is set to release on both Meta Quest 2 and Pico 4. The Pico 4 is, if you’ve not heard of it, a Quest 2 competitor. It’s available in several countries but not, right now, the UK or US. The game launches this March 9th, and you can wishlist it right now on Meta Quest 2.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
