The Expanse: A Telltale Series’ New Trailer Has Corpses, Choices and More Corpses

The Expanse

The Expanse: A Telltale Series has a new trailer you probably shouldn’t watch if you’re eating lunch.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series takes place before the events of the season and sees you, as Camina Drummer, searching for salvage amongst the stars. No doubt events will take a surprising turn but this new trailer sees you picking through corpses for valuable stuff.

If you think that sounds a little macabre, you’re right. The trailer is definitely not work safe, featuring headless corpses, severed hands and more. But if you’ve watched The Expanse, currently on Amazon, you’ll know that it’s not a particularly happy go-lucky show.

The trailer features developer commentary, with talk of all the choices the game will offer you. In particular, there’s moment when one character has his leg trapped by a valuable cargo cannister. It’s up to you whether you eject the cannister, or keep it but take the character’s leg off.

Your choice will have profound consequences, according to the devs. At least, that’s what they say now. The current Telltale Games isn’t the same Telltale Games that made The Walking Dead and so forth, but we’re still a little cynical. Yes, we loved that episodic series but the impact of our choices was anything but profound.

Sure, cutting off his leg may have consequences, but if those consequences are just him talking about how we cut off his leg, we’ll be less than impressed. Collectibles can also have an effect on your relationship with other characters which is a curious mechanic.

Still, we’re suckers for a good hard sci-fi story, so hopefully Telltale can deliver in that regard. The Expanse: A Telltale Series is set for a summer release, arriving on PC and console.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
