The Latest Valorant Patch Notes Reveal Some Nerfs

Valorant

Valorant update 6.03’s notes confirm that the patch leaves the levels alone but dials back a couple of agents’ powers.

As revealed by the latest Valorant patch notes, agents Killjoy and Raze are getting tweaked. Is that that’s a good thing? Probably, yes, even if Killjoy and Raze are your agents of choice. This team-based online FPS has been adding new content since its 2020 launch, maps included, but it also regularly doles out changes, based on how their characters perform.

Given that Valorant is free to play (it launched in June 2020), developer Riot Games has every interest in keeping players satisfied. So what’s been done to Raze and Killjoy? The changes are as follows:

  • Killjoy’s Turret health has been reduced from 125 to 100
  • Raze’s Boom Bot duration has been reduced from 10 seconds to 5

Both those changes were made in the name of balance. According to Riot, “With Chamber’s recent balance and the increased reliability of Killjoy’s Lockdown ult, she has recently sprung up as the premier Sentinel Agent in the game.”

So, in other words, people are picking Killjoy because she’s just too powerful. That might be great if you’re a Killjoy main, but if you’re playing against her, less so.

There are a couple of other non-agent relate changes too – you can find the full Valorant patch notes here. We are going to share, word for word, the “hair” fix: “Adjusted Sage, Neon, Jett, and Yoru’s hair heights to fit within our standardized vertical range”. We absolutely love the idea of hair messing with Valorant.

Finally, if you’re a fan of fast-placed gameplay, you may have been enjoying the beta Swiftplay mode, which was set to end. Riot have revealed that, for now at least, the mode will continue to be available.

The 6.03 patch arrives today. If you’ve not played Valorant, it’s available on PC and can be downloaded via the official website.

Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
