Wondering if you can play as a female character in Sons of the Forest? Here’s what you need to know.
Sons of the Forest sees your protagonist stranded on a remote island, as in The Forest. But you’re not a specific character, at least not at this point in the game’s Steam Early Access schedule. So can you play as a female character in Sons of the Forest?
You can’t choose to play as a female character in Sons of the Forest and your character model is male. The answer is no, you can’t pick a female character and there’s no character creation of any sort. And, when you die, your character is revealed as having a male-presenting though rather bland face.
We suspect that the character uses the same male character model as the other security force members for the sake of simplicity. But, aside from the death scene, you can always roleplay your character as whatever gender you like. It’s not like you look down and see your health meter tattooed on your boobs (we’re looking at you, Jurassic Park: Trespasser).
So, you can’t choose a specifically female character in Sons of the Forest. All the player models, yours and others players, are male. But in the context of the game it doesn’t make a big difference.
