Cities: Skylines is Getting More DLC, Despite a Sequel in the Works

Cities: Skylines DLC

Cities: Skylines may be getting a sequel but that doesn’t mean developer Colossal Order is done with the original.

It was revealed last week that Cities: Skylines 2 is in development, promising everything the original game offers and more. But the original city builder isn’t done yet. It was released in 2015 and has been receiving regular paid DLC since then, allowing the game to grow without the need – back then – for a full on sequel.

However, Colossal Order is still working on DLC for the original game and has teased the next piece of upcoming content. Previous Cities: Skylines expansions have added new tourism options, more mass transit features, universities campuses and much more. So what does this new DLC offer?

Corn Kitchen. No, that’s not the name of the DLC, rather it’s the restaurant featured in the rather curious teaser Colossal have put out. Our guess is that the new DLC will add new commercial enterprises to the game. So there’ll be more business, perhaps new commercial districts.

We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure, however. The last DLC, Financial Districts, arrived in December of last year so, in theory, we’re due one fairly soon. And, so far, none of the available expansions have gone all in on commercial districts.

We’ll let you know when we hear more but, for now, Cities: Skylines lives still. And there’s certainly no reason to abandon your growing metropolis.

Cities Skylines is available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Mac.
