How to Catch Small Animals in Sons of the Forest

Sons of the Forest

There are plenty of small animals running around Sons of the Forest, but how do you catch them for dinner? Here’s how.

In Sons of the Forest, hunting animals isn’t as easy as you might think. Sure, some areas are so full of wildlife they look like a Disney movie, but when try nabbing one of those animals, they’ll run. So what do you do?

We have two recommendations for you. Firstly, build a trap using sticks and place it near a relatively high-traffic animal area. When you come back (you can build several) you should hopefully have one of Sons of the Forest‘s animals in there, ready for dinner.

You can also hunt small animals using spears, guns, and so forth. But that’s not our recommendation. We’re going to suggest that you kill them with logs. No, we’re absolutely not making this up.

The animals in Sons of the Forest will run if you get close but they seem blissfully unaware of the danger of flying logs. So, grab a log, find an animal that’s just sitting there and use the drop key, G on the keyboard.

You won’t so much drop it as hurl it, splattering the animal. This won’t work on deer as they can take more than one hit but it should be enough for rabbits and squirrels. So that’s how to catch small animals in Sons of the Forest: use a log.
