The DioField Chronicle Gets a Free Update With Five New Missions and More

The DioField Chronicle review

Did The DioField Chronicle leave you wanting more? A new update, out now, adds five new missions and two sub-missions.

The DioField Chronicle isn’t about Ronny James Dio starting a farm and is, instead, a strategic battle RPG where you lead a team of mercenaries through a war-torn world. Now, this new The Diofield Chronicle update – 1.20 – adds extra content including gear, the aformentioned new missions and more.

It also casts you as Waltaquin Redditch who, apart from having the best name ever, was introduced in the main game. You get to tackle five full missions as this character, which should shake things up a little.

The update also adds a new boss to The Diofield Chronicle.  The boss, Behemoth, is designed to be toughest foe yet. There’s also Extra Mode, which is being folded into the existing New Game + Mode. This, like Behemoth, is designed for players looking for a soul-crushingly hard challenge.

We reviewed it when it hit PC and console last September, calling it “..Square Enix’s most enjoyable RPGs in some time, with a combat system that we hope we haven’t seen the last of.”

And if you’ve not played it, there’s a demo available across all platforms, PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Switch. It’s priced at £49.99/$59.99 but you can pick it up for half price on the PlayStation Store.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
