Resident Evil 4 remake arrives this week and to promote its release, Capcom have commissioned a special animation. It’s quite.. something.
The Resident Evil 4 remake animation is the work of Japanese studio Nippon Animation and it has all the trappings of a cutesy, upbeat animation. At least, that’s the way it starts out, with protagonist Leon dancing around with Ashley, the girl he’s been sent in to rescue.
It even has its own subtitle, “Leon and the Mysterious Village”. We’re not going to spoil the whole thing for you but we have to tip our hats to Capcom and Nippon. We wouldn’t have dreamed of making something like this, not in a million years.
The animation is “Episode 1”, which we’re hoping means there’s more on the way. In fact, we’d like to see the whole game recounted through several wonderfully animated shorts.

If you’ve not ordered Resident Evil 4, you can read our review to find out why you should. Well, unless you own an Xbox One, that is. While it’s hitting every other platform bar the Switch, it’s skipped that console.
You won’t be dealing with any zombies, but Resident Evil 4’s Ganados are just as unsettling in their own right. You’ll never look a pitchfork in the same way, that’s for sure. The remake of Resident Evil 4 arrives on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC this March 24th.
