Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores’ New Patch Should Fix its Crashes

Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores review header

Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores has a new patch designed to stop this expansion pack from crashing.

Reviewing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores we managed to escape unscathed but some people have experienced crashes. This new patch, 1.22 addresses other issues but its mainly designed to stop the game, er stopping.

Because, when it comes to consoles, crashing isn’t great. One of the reasons to buy a console is that, with a single (or similar) configuration across a generation, developers know what they’re playing with. So for a game to exit to the main menu? It’s not a good look.

According to developer Guerilla games, the patch also fixes “..an issue with Time of Day getting stuck permanently.” We’re pretty sure there’s a story in there alone.. just imagine the sun never setting, a world stuck in permanent daylight or darkness. It’s a pity Rod Serling’s not around, he’d have a field day.

Some players have also reported issues with Aerial captures and quest progression and, according to the patch notes, Guerilla are investigating that issue as well. They’ve taken the measure of posting the notes on Reddit so, at the very least, they’ll be able to cull some information from the comments.

The Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores patch is out now. You should be prompted to download it next time you fire up the DLC.
