Resident Evil: Death Island has a big reveal tomorrow, but a new poster has apparently leaked, suggesting it’s heading for a July release date.
The Resident Evil: Death Island poster is currently floating around Twitter and, if it’s genuine, this CGI Resi movie will be have a July 7th release date. That’s the Japanese release at least: it may or may not release simultaneously elsewhere.
The reveal takes place tomorrow, with a timer (currently at 21 hours) ticking away on the official website. The movie was announced back in February and we’re assuming a new trailer will also drop tomorrow. However, the release date isn’t the only thing the poster reveals.
If genuine, it also confirms that the movie will see all the major Resident Evil characters teaming up. That includes Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine and Rebecca Chambers. “The worst mission, the strongest team”, the poster’s slogan translates as.
Sure, the characters have cropped up in various games but this the first property to unite all these characters. We’re not too keen on the “Death Island” subtitle but we’re definitely looking forward to feasting our eyes on it
Netflix’s Resident Evil series was cancelled and, so far, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City isn’t getting a sequel, so this could be fans’ only chance – for now – for a new Resident Evil movie.
Again, that’s assuming this poster is genuine, it could be an elaborate fan-hoax. We’ll find out for sure tomorrow.
