Tips For Raiding Outposts in Meet Your Maker

Meet Your Maker sees you both constructing and raiding post-apocalyptic outposts. Here are some tips to help you with the latter.

Meet Your Maker’s levels aren’t all mean to be fun, many are meant just to kill you. Why? Because they’re crafted by other players who get to harvest the resources you drop when you die. So if you’re raiding, we’ve got some tips to help you avoid dying in Meet Your Maker.

And believe us, you will need help. Some players can be surprisingly, utterly devious when it comes to crafting levels. Rushing in is not the way to go and we’d very much advise you to take care. You can die horribly even in the “normal” outposts, especially if you’re not paying attention.

Here, then, are some handy tips to help you reach each outpost’s GenMat with your head still attached.

• Remember to check for traps above you. As noted by several games designers, players tend not to look up as much as they look around.
• Use your grenades. You have very limited ammo so if a mid-level monster is close enough, blow them up with a grenade. And if you’re out of bullets, grenades can still blow up traps.
• When you see a trap, look for another one. A lot of outpost builders pair traps together.
• Remember, once you’ve got the GenMat, second wave traps will likely activate so you’ll have to start watching for traps all over again.
• Check for traps near the exit. A lot of players – ourselves included – put traps near or at the exit to catch players who think they’re in the clear.
• Upgrade your weapon’s ammo capacity first. Your weapon can be used to trigger traps so the more bullets you have the more you can set off.
• Know your traps. Even if you’re not building an outpost, speak to your trap advisor and examine all the traps they sell. Why? Because some traps, such as the fire traps, trigger indefinitely.
• Use your grappling hook. If you’re fast you can grapple right up to a trap and slash it with your sword before it goes off.
• Lean. By clicking the left and right joysticks in you can lean left and right, letting you peek (relatively) safely at things round the corner.

So bear those tips in mind and you should find raiding that little easier in Meet Your Maker. And if it leaves you wanting revenge, you can always build your own.
