Who Needs The Last Of Us When You’ve Got The Last of The Summer Wine?

The Last of the Summer Wine

The Last of Us comes to England, courtesy of Jim’ll Paint It and HBO’s The Last of the Summer Wine.

Yes, this is a very, very British joke, so if you’re a fan of HBO’s The Last of Us and it’s going right over your head, don’t worry. The Last of the Summer Wine was a long-running comedy show that ran nearly forty years. It featured a trio of British retirees getting into all sorts of scrape. Think One Foot in the Grave but with less meanness and more gentle shenanigans.

Now, artist Jim’ll Paint Is has mashed to two together, with protagonists Compo, Clegg and Foggy taking on Clickers in a bathtub. We’re not entirely sure which mushroom-headed character is trying to eat them. But our guess is Marina, with Howard spilling his guts in the background.

Like many of Jim’s pieces, it’s been painted in MS Paint. No, really. And it’s absolutely glorious – we’re ordering a print the moment we publish this piece. In fact, we’d go so far as to say this is finest piece of work though there’s a lot of competition. His Michael Myers painting, which features the wrong Michael Myers, is just glorious.

The idea for this piece was put forward by Guy Joyner, via Facebook. Jim sells his prints online but also has a Patreon you can join, to support his continuing artistic endeavours. You can order this particular print from Jim’s online store here, so it can take pride of place in your lounge, gaming room or toilet.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
