First revealed in August last year, we’ve finally been given another peek at the upcoming reimagining of Alone in the Dark.
Developed by Pieces Interactive, this latest entry in the Alone in the Dark series aims to entertain newcomers and existing fans alike. It mixes horror with adventure, sprinkling in plenty of puzzles along the way. And now it’s been revealed that it’s set to have two protagonists, Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby. The story remains the same no matter which character you choose, but they’ll each have their own take on it. That means you’ll likely want to play through it at least twice to see it from both perspectives.
Also revealed is that Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby will have familiar faces and voices. Jodie Comer, who you might have seen in the likes of Killing Eve, Free Guy and The Last Duel, is set to star as Emily, while David Harbour of Stranger Things and Violent Night is Edward. Needless to say, what we’ve seen of the game so far benefits from their inclusion, with good voice acting and facial animation really bringing interactions to life.
Players won’t have to wait too long to go hands-on with Alone in the Dark: the game will launch on 25th October for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, priced at £49.99. But right now, a prologue can be downloaded, introducing players to the game’s world. They won’t be taking control of Emily or Edward in this prologue, though; instead they’ll be in charge of a young girl called Grace. As such, there’s no combat, but you’ll get a small taste of what’s to come and learn more of the events that set the main game up.

It’s safe to say we’re looking forward to Alone in the Dark. Tasking players with finding out what happened to Jeremy Hartwood, it promises to be an atmospheric and engaging game for all, while also having some references to the older games that fans will appreciate. If you preorder, you’ll even get access to retro character skins, really upping the nostalgia. Of course, a digital deluxe edition is also available, including extras such as a digital artbook and soundtrack.
