Can You Change the Difficulty in LEGO 2K Drive?

LEGO 2K Drive review 1 (1)

If you’re having trouble with LEGO 2K Drive, find out if you can change the difficulty with our handy guide.

LEGO 2K Drive may look like a game for kids thanks to its vibrant visuals and silly sense of humour, but its races can actually be quite tricky. Fail to use a power up at the right time, or simply make a mistake, and your hope of finishing in first place can be over in a flash. And so you might begin to wonder: can you change the difficulty in LEGO 2K Drive, making its races easier?

Technically, no, you can’t change the difficulty in LEGO 2K Drive. Unlike most games, including racing games, there are no difficulty levels, and you can’t even adjust the competency of the AI opponents you’re up against. Instead, the game has adaptive difficulty, meaning the better you perform from one race to the next, the better your opponents will be, too. If you are having trouble winning a particular race, however, then there are some things you can do.

Firstly, if you head into the game’s settings menu, you’ll find an option called Enable Race Difficulty Assist. Turn this off (it’s on by default) and your opponents will operate at their normal levels, without taking your performance into account. This can make things somewhat easier. Also, if the race you’re stuck on has weeds at the side of the track that slow you down, remove them. Once gone, you can often make use of a handy shortcut.
