Diablo 4 arrives next month but, as Blizzard has revealed, there’s plenty of post-launch content in the works.
As part of yesterday’s developer live-stream, Blizzard delved into its Diablo 4 post-launch content. This action-RPG already has a huge amount of buzz surrounding it, but Blizzard will want to keep players hooked, rather than drifting off when they’ve murdered the final boss.
So what does Blizzard have in store? For a start, there’s the Season Journey, an in-game journal of sorts that will let players document sub-objectives. It also details the rewards you’ll receive for each objective.
Aside from receiving an award for completing an objective, players will also get “Favor” which they will use to progress through the various Diablo 4 Battle Pass tiers. The basic Battle Pass is free, but there’s also a Premium Battle Pass and an Accelerated Battle Pass.
No, we’re not making this up, there’s really two paid battle passes, priced at $9.99 and $24.99 respectively. The battle passes let you get your hands on extra cosmetics and won’t actually given an edge in combat, which we’re glad to hear. The Accelerated Battle Pass essentially lets you skip 20 tiers and features another free cosmetic.
If, at this point, you’re scratching your head and wondering why you’d spend an extra $24.99 on a game you’ve already bought, just for cosmetics, don’t worry. You’re probably not the target market for these battle passes. But we’re sure there are enough Diablo fans who will open their wallets to make it worth Blizzard’s while.
As for the first season? Blizzard has yet to reveal what it’ll entail but it’ll begin in mid to late July and will require you to have completed the main game. You can find full details of Blizzard’s post-launch Diablo 4 plans here. The game launches this June 6th on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
