Sure, you can build motorised carts and so on, but if you want get around on hooves, don’t worry, Tears of the Kingdom hasn’t ditched horses. So how do you get your hands on a horse?

The simplest way is get a horse in Tears of the Kingdom is just to sneak up on one. You’ll find horses in various places around Hyrule’s map, sometimes near existing stables. Once you find a horse you’ll need to crouch by pressing the left joystick in.

This will put in you stealth mode so sneak up on the horse, and when you get close enough, mount it with the A button. Hurrah! You’ve got a horse! Except.. it’s not quite that easy. The horse is still wild so you’ll need to calm it down.

Pay attention to the on-screen buttons and keep soothing the horse, particularly if it starts going out of control. The more time you spend with the horse the easier it’ll be to control. You can now keep it at a stable and retrieve it from any stable in the game. As for dismounting, press B to get off your horse.

That’s not the only way to get a horse. You’ll also see monsters riding around on them and you can, if you’re quick, knock them off their horse and then mount the horse. But whichever route you go, that’s how to get a horse in Tears of the Kingdom.
