If you were looking forward to Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus, we have good news: Humble Games has stepped in to publish the promising looking title.
A Kickstarter success, Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is a hand-drawn metroidvania that looks absolutely gorgeous. That’s particularly impressive considering it’s the first game by developer Squid Shock Studios. There’s some bad news, though: initially slated for release in 2023, it’s now been pushed back to 2024. It’s presumably to make the game as good as it can be.
Based in a world of Japanese folklore, players will take control of the titular Celestial Blossom Bo in Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus. As they explore the mysterious world around them, they’ll encounter adorable creatures that have something of an otherworldly presence. And aside from using Bo’s shapeshifting abilities, players will also need to brew arcane teas in order to unlock celestial powers and progress.
Bo: Path of the Teal Lotus is planned for PC at the moment, but we do hope that it comes to consoles as well. It’s one of the most promising metroidvanias on the horizon, and we can’t wait to see more of it.
