Meta’s next Meta Quest Gaming showcase is taking place at the beginning of June.
However, this particular Meta Quest Gaming Showcase may be a little.. interesting. Why? Because it’s happening just a couple of months after another round of Meta studio layoffs. And, on the whole, the Meta Quest division of Meta (formerly Facebook) hasn’t exactly been super profitable.
On the one hand, there have been rumblings that this showcase may see the reveal of the Meta Quest 3. But Meta is also likely looking to boost confidence in their VR division. Meta Quest lost $10 billion in 2021 and even more in 2023.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is still pushing his vision of Meta, a virtual space for, well, everyone. We’re not convinced that’ll ever match up to Zuckerberg’s dream. Though, as a gaming device, the Meta Quest 2 is still a great stand-alone headset.
So what can you expect? According to Meta, there’ll be 40 minutes of “..new game announcements, gameplay first-looks, updates to existing games”. There’s also going to be a post-show developer round table and a 15 minute pre-show, er, show.
You’ll be able to watch the show via Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, and in Meta Horizon Worlds. It takes place this June 1st at 10:00 AM PT / 6:00 PM BST, with the pre-show kicking off 15 minutes earlier.
