Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodhunt Patch Notes

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is Ending Development

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt is, after barely a year, ending development.

This free-to-play vampire battle royale launched in April 2022 but, as announced by developer Sharkmob, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt will no longer be actively developed.

It won’t be shutting down quite yet, but don’t count on seeing any additional content added to the game. According to Sharkmob, this decision is due to lack of interest. Their statement explains:

“..we have an amazing and very engaged community, we haven’t been able to reach the critical mass needed to sustain development. This has led us to the decision to stop further development of Bloodhunt.”

The game, while free to play, contains cosmetic microtransactions. As of September 26th players will be unable to spend real money on the game, and Sharkmob will be looking at other ways of unlocking content. However, there’s no word as to whether refunds are on the cards.

Sharkmob will “.keep the servers going for as long as we have an active player base and community.” So when interest drops off it could go the way of Babylon’s Fall and several other Games as a Service titles.

We definitely had fun with Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, though the setting always struck us as a little strange. In the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, the bloodsuckers strive to keep their existence secret. The titular ‘Masquerade’ is the act of hiding from mortals. And yet here was a game about blasting your way around Prague.

Sharkmob has another two games in the works, so we hope those go well for them. But for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before someone plunges a stake through its heart.
