Wondering which difficulty you should play Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun on? Hopefully we can help you make the right choice.
Out now on pretty much all consoles and PC, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a brand new game that looks and plays like a blast from the past. Taking inspiration from the likes of DOOM, it tasks players with making their way through levels, shooting or cutting down any enemy that stands in their way. Needless to say, it’s a fun, action packed and gory first-person shooter. But what difficulty should you play Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun on to get the most out of it?
When you first start Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, there are four difficulty levels to choose from: Low, Medium, Hard and Exterminatus. The one you choose will greatly affect how tough the game will be, and so choose one that’s too high and you’ll likely get frustrated. Too low and you simply might not feel challenged enough.
With that in mind, then, we can only recommend Low difficulty to those who are new to first-person shooters, or who take glory in absolutely massacring any enemy they come across with ease. Playing Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun on Low difficulty makes you feel like a true badass, disposing of enemies left, right and centre. Only the occasional encounter might give you a bit of a challenge.
Most players should probably consider starting on Medium or Hard. On these difficulties Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun presents a decent challenge. Your enemies will put up a good fight, especially when they attack in numbers. Keep on the move and make effective use of your weapons and skills, however, and you should survive. You’ll feel quite proud of your efforts, too.
That leaves Exterminatus. This difficulty is for those who either love punishment, are extremely skilled at first-person shooters, or who have mastered Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. On this difficulty your enemies are truly formidable. You’ll truly need to select the right weapon for the situation you’re in, and be adept at avoiding incoming damage while dealing it yourself. You’ll probably die. A lot. But if you succeed, you’ll definitely deserve all the glory.
One thing to consider is that Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun has difficulty-related trophies and achievements. So, if you’re into such things, you’ll have to complete the game on Exterminatus difficulty at some point to 100% it. Also, to change difficulty part way through a campaign, you’ll need to go to Chapter Select and select a level. You’ll then be able to choose a new difficulty. Good luck.
