In Aliens: Dark Descent, your marines are pretty on the ball but sometimes you might want to assign specific tasks. Here’s how to do that.
Unlike some games we could mention, your characters in Aliens: Dark Descent can handle themselves. You can give them orders as a group and the task will get done, providing an alien doesn’t eat their face first. But there’s also a way of assigning tasks in Aliens: Dark Descent.
If you want to assign a task in Aliens: Dark Descent you have to use the shoulder buttons or tab key. Will you always use this facility? Probably not, but it’s very handy to have, just in case. And it had completely passed us by until someone on Reddit mentioned it.
The way it works is, if you give someone a task, say rescue a colonist, and just hit ‘A’ (or X on PlayStation), the game will choose the person who will undertake the task. But if you hit left and right on the controller, or tab, you can cycle through all the marines.
Then, when you hit A/X, that marine will be given that specific task. This works with multiple tasks. You can choose who welds or unwelds a door, picks up a sentry gun, searches a box and so on.
And that’s how you assign tasks in Aliens: Dark Descent.
