Pikmin 4 Gets a New Trailer and a Playable Demo, Out Now

Pikmin 4

Pikmin 4 is less than a month away and to give you a taste of things to come, Nintendo has released a playable demo.

Pikmin 4 has been in the works for a while and was confirmed back in 2015. Now, eight year later, it’s finally landing on Nintendo Switch. And, compared to previous entries, Nintendo has gone all out to throw in some new mechanics.

Now, you can test it out in advance of its July release date. The demo should take you a couple of hours to complete as you collect and guide this puzzle game’s titular Pikmin. Taking a leaf out of Tinykin’s book, you’ll be roaming around some oversized indoor locations, with only your Pikmin – and a puppy pal – to aid you.

Accompanying the demo is a new six minute trailer which delves into the various gameplay aspects. It also shows off the character customisation, since you’re not playing Captain Olimar. He’s one of the idiots who’s got himself stranded this time.

The most interesting feature, however, is the rewind time feature. It lets you undo your Pikmin’s horrible deaths without having to restart an area or recollect the Pikmin. We wish that feature existed when we were playing Lemmings, that’s for sure.

You can check out the trailer above and download the demo right now via the eShop. The final game arrives on Nintendo Switch this July 21st.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
