VR-Only Assassin’s Creed Nexus Gives You Control of a Trio of Legendary Assassins

Assassin's Creed Nexus VR

At this year’s Ubisoft Forward we got a good look at Assassin’s Creed Nexus, a VR-only title that’s been designed for Meta Quest 2.

If you’ve ever wanted to actually feel like you’re an assassin, this is perhaps the game for you. Why? Well, because it’s the first Assassin’s Creed game fully played from a first-person view point, immersing you in the action like never before.

In Assassin’s Creed Nexus, you will become a master assassin. Three, in fact. Its multi-faceted story will find you exploring three settings, all in different places and times in history. Its characters will be familiar to Creed fans, though. Kassandra, Connor and Ezio are all playable.

With Abstergo up to yet another devious plan, it’s your job to infiltrate the company and thwart their plan. And in that endeavour you’ll find yourself delving into the lives of three legendary assassins, reliving their experiences yet again. Assassin’s Creed Nexus will have open maps that you can explore, and it will be up to you to decide how you’ll achieve your goal. And being in first-person, you’ll have to realistically perform actions, like flicking your wrist to reveal your hidden blade. How you’re supposed to recreate a leap of faith, however, is beyond us.

All in all, this looks like it should bring the world of Assassin’s Creed to life in VR, with many of the series’ mechanics being implemented to give that authentic feel. And worry not if you’re not all that used to VR; it appears much work has been done to make it welcoming to those new to the format. Things like teleport locomotion, vignetting and more are available to help with comfort.
