Learn how to beat the troublesome Balteus in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

Balteus might be one of the earliest bosses you encounter in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, but that doesn’t mean he goes easy on you. Quite the contrary in fact; thanks to a pesky shield and a tendency to bombard you with homing missiles, he’s actually quite a pain. So, how do you beat Balteus in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon?

At the start of the fight with Balteus, he’ll unleash a barrage of missiles – head straight at him with an assault charge in order to avoid them, and we recommend having a melee weapon equipped to pound him with when in range. Also essential here is a Pulse Gun – while it doesn’t have great range, it cuts through Balteus’ energy shield with ease, opening him up for attack. Just make sure you have a heavy weapon or two equipped on your shoulders to do some heavy damage while he’s staggered. Make use of your melee weapon when you can, too.

What’s important here is keeping the pressure on Balteus, and staying as close to him as you can – this renders his missiles much less effective. Keep depleting his shield and whittling down his health bar, and once he’s sustained about 50% damage get ready to quickly gain some distance when warned about a powerful upcoming field attack. From this point on he’ll gain a fiery melee attack, but keep close and on the move and you don’t have too worry about it too much. The same goes for when he gains a flamethrower attack when down to about 30% of his health.

Ultimately, the key the beating Balteus is staying close, nullifying his shield with a Pulse Gun, and hitting him with melee attacks and powerful weapons while he’s staggered. Do that, and you’ll emerge victorious.
