Is Mortal Kombat 1 Coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Mortal Kombat 1 2

Is Mortal Kombat 1 coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One? That’s what you’ll be asking if you’ve yet to upgrade to a new-gen console. Here’s the answer.

MK1 arrives this September. No, it’s not the HD remaster – the rumours are true, that ended up being cancelled. Instead, it’s both a soft reboot and the latest entry in the long-running fighting series. But is bloody brawler Mortal Kombat 1 coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Unfortunately, Mortal Kombat 1 is not coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Furthermore, developer NetherRealm Studios has not indicated that they have any plans to do so. Could it be that the PS4 and Xbox One can’t handle the sheer spleen-shattering power of MK1 ?

You might think so, given that developers are beginning to wave farewell to last-gen consoles. But it is coming to the Nintendo Switch, a machine that has less power than the PS4.

In some cases, developers have released last-gen versions a few months after the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. That was the case with Midnight Suns and Hogwarts Legacy, though at one point we suspected the former would be cancelled on those platforms.

But when it comes to MK1, it won’t be coming to PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Instead, the game will arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC this September 14th.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
