The Mortal Kombat 1 Pre-Order Beta Has Been Extended

Mortal Kombat 1 Fatalities Johnny Cage Frost EVO

If you’re slaughtering your way through the Mortal Kombat 1 beta you’ll be happy to hear that it’s been extended.

Those who pre-ordered Mortal Kombat 1 gained access to a pre-release beta, which has been running over this weekend, beginning on Friday 18th. However, creative director Ed Boon has confirmed that it’ll be running just that little bit longer.

The beta was set to end this Monday at 8AM PDT/4PM GMT. However, as announced by Boon, it’s been extended by seven hours. It will now finish at 3PM PDT/11PM GMT, giving you enough extra time to spill some more giblets.

The beta has a relatively small roster, letting you play as Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Lei Mei, Kitana, Kenshi, and Sub-Zero. But three of those characters have been with the series since the very beginning, so fans should be happy.

The fatalities we’ve seen are, as you might expect, rather silly. But that’s half the fun of the game. Yes, we’re big fans of Gamology’s ER Doctor reacts to Mortal Kombat fatalities series, but when the giblets are flying we’re happy to be caught up in their absurdity.

The game arrives this September 19th on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch. Those who’ve purchased the Premium or Kollector’s Edition of the game will get to play it from September 14th.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
