Actor Cameron Monaghan is Returning For a Star Wars Jedi: Survivor sequel

Star Wars Jedi Survivor review BD-1 and Cal

Cameron Monaghan has revealed he’s returning for the third Star Wars Jedi game, a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. That’s not an official announcement, but he confirmed his involvement at a recent comic convention. So it’s possible that Respawn’s marketing team are shaking their collective fists in rage.

As reported by VGC, the actor was at Ocala Comic Con earlier this month and when asked about the in-development third game, stated “We’re working on a third and we’re in the process of doing that right now.”

The operative word is ‘we’, so Monaghan is definitely on board, though that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the central character. It’s possible there’ll be a new protagonist and he, as Jedi Cal Kestis, will be a side character. He could even be involved in training the new character, as with the Lucasarts Dark Forces/Jedi games.

Should Monaghan have admitted this? Maybe someone can ask him at the next Comic Con he goes to. We’re reminded of the late Kevin Conroy who got into trouble by inadvertently admitting he was working on Batman: Arkham Knight. The game hasn’t officially been revealed, but this job posting all but confirms it.

But we are glad to hear that Monaghan is back as Cal Kestis. He was a little bland in the first game but Star Wars Jedi: Survivor made him a much more interesting character.

We’ll also be curious to see where the story goes. Without giving too much away, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor ends on a positive note and we’re hoping the new game doesn’t totally roll that back. We were wrong with our prediction that Survivor would kill off BD-1, but we’re still nervous for the little droid.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
