As if Baldur’s Gate 3 wasn’t odd enough, one fan has imagined the main characters as Spaceballs-style knock-offs. We can’t decide what’d be better, a Mel Brooks Baldur’s Gate 3 parody or having them turn up as stunt doubles. But we’ve absolutely loving it.
These shenanigans started on Reddit, with Redditor u/StefanFr97 creating their own bargain basement Astarion lookalike, dubbed “Arsehole”. We’d probably have gone for Arsestarion but it nails the feel of real world lookalikes.
You know the sort we’re talking about. There’s a passing resemblance but once you actually stop and look the illusion is broken. “Hey, isn’t that Shadowheart and.. wait, no, it’s not.”
But they didn’t stop there, they went on to create knock-offs of other characters, dubbed Carlake, Lazy and so on. Then, the rest of r/BaldursGate3 weighed in, creating their backstories for these characters. Their quest? To find a cure for tapeworm. You get the picture. It’s absolutely worth checking out the whole absurd thread.
It gets better, too. Since Baldur’s Gate 3 uses D+D rules, there’s nothing to stop you from taking Wun’t, Blackliver and company and inserting them into your own Spaceballs-style D+D game. Balding Goat 3, anyone?
