Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is Coming to PS5 on 29th February

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

The long-awaited sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake finally has a release date, and the next part of Cloud’s story isn’t that far away.

It’s three and a half years since Final Fantasy VII Remake launched, blowing us away and being one of a number of games that saw the PS4 out with a bang. Of course, it’s since come to PS5 with the Intergrade edition, and it’s still just as impressive as ever. But it’s only the first of three games that retell the story of Final Fantasy VII, and we’ve been waiting on tenterhooks to find out more about the next part of the saga. Finally, we have a release date: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is launching on 29th February.

(And no, we don’t think it’s a coincidence that such a long-awaited title is releasing on a date that only comes around once every four years.)

Last night as part of PlayStation’s State of Play presentation, we were treated to a brand new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It’s the most in-depth look at the game we’ve had so far, and it’s left us very excited to see more. Watch the trailer for yourself below:

We get a glimpse at some key characters in the trailer, including Red XIII and Cait Sith. There’s also Zack, who you’ll recognise from Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, and antagonist Sephiroth makes more than a fleeting appearance.

Of course, with how Final Fantasy VII Remake ended, there’s no telling how the events of Reunion might play out: this is no straightforward remake of the original game after all. We can’t wait to find out more – and there’s only a few months to wait. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches exclusively on PS5 on 29th February 2024.
