To remind people that Baldur’s Gate 3 is now on PS5, the official PlayStation account has tweeted out a BG3 bowling game that we absolutely want. Forget new story content, this is the DLC we’d pay for.
The video, dubbed ‘Bowler’s Gate’, shows Astarian, Shadowheart and company playing ten pin bowling with barrels and a hapless enemy NPC. Okay, Shadowheart cheats, but it still looks like an absolute blast.
The video keeps score, with Lae’zel coming out on top (we’re not rewarding Shadowheart’s bad sportsmanship). There’s no sign of Karlach, whch is probably a good thing. She’d absolutely demolish those barrels then angrily storm into the other lanes.
You can set this situation up in game, carrying barrels and placing them down till you’ve got your ten ‘pins’. But that’s a lot of effort to go through, resetting it each time. Now, if Larian Studios were to actually make this an official minigame, we wouldn’t be able to hand over our money fast enough.
This PlayStation-created bowling game isn’t the only time barrels have been used creatively in Baldur’s Gate 3. It takes much, much more patience than we have, but some players have used barrels to clear out Act 1’s goblin temple. As reported by PC Gamer, players have been filling the temple with explosive barrels then setting them off, clearing half the area in seconds.
If you’ve not tackled Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s out now on PlayStation 5 and PC, with an Xbox release coming later this year. You can read how we’re getting on with it here.
