It doesn’t come as a surprise, but today Ubisoft has confirmed that The Division 3 is in development.
The news comes as Ubisoft announces that Julian Gerighty has been appointed as executive producer across the entire The Division brand. Along with The Division 3, he’ll be overseeing the ongoing development of The Division 2, along with upcoming mobile game The Division Resurgence and free-to-play The Division Heartland.
Of course, we don’t have any information on what The Division 3 entails yet. The press release circulated today by Ubisoft states that Massive Entertainment is “actively building a team for the game”, so development is very much in its early stages. We can expect waiting at least a couple more years, then.
Still, we’re big fans of both The Division and The Division 2, so it’s good news that Ubisoft is investing enough in the brand to keep it alive.
On his new appointment, Gerighty says “There are only a few games that I can genuinely say blew me away the first time I saw them, and Tom Clancy’s The Division is one of them. […] It’s a privilege and an honor to be able to continue to build incredible and unforgettable experiences in this amazing world with the most talented teams around the world, and I can’t wait for what’s next.”
We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information pertaining to The Division 3’s development over the next months.
