If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe member, your subscription has just got a little bit better. Starting from today, you’ll gain access to a library of up to 100 Sony Pictures movies as part of your membership.
It comes as Sony announces the launch of the Sony Pictures Core app on PS4 and PS5 consoles. Previously named Bravia Core, the streaming app has been available on Sony’s Bravia TV range for some time, offering on-demand access to a huge library of movies from Sony Pictures studios. The rebrand sees the service launch on PlayStation consoles, where any user will be able to download the app and buy or rent movies from a selection of over 2,000.
It’ll also provide early access to brand new Sony Pictures films – the first to be offered on the service will be Gran Turismo, which is currently still at the cinema.
The most exciting thing for PS Plus Premium members, though, is of course the announcement of a catalogue of movies included in their membership. All movies will be ad-free, and the selection will be updated periodically. So far, sony has announced four titles to be included: Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium and Resident Evil Damnation. More benefits for PlayStation Plus members are to be announced soon.
To make use of Sony Pictures Core, you’ll need to download the app on your PS4 or PS5 device. Any user can rent or buy movies, but you’ll need to be a PS Plus Premium/Deluxe member to make use of the free catalogue.
We’re looking forward to giving the new service a try – new benefits to our existing subscriptions is only ever a good thing.
