How to Upgrade Vehicles in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

Learn how to upgrade your vehicles in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, making them faster.

There are over one hundred and thirty vehicles included in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, although you’ll only start with a handful of them. The rest you’ll need to win or purchase over time with your hard-earned credits. The game has a new upgrade system, too, with all vehicles starting in the Stock class, before getting faster as they’re upgraded to Powered and then Ultimate classes. But how do you upgrade vehicles in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged?

To upgrade vehicles in Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged, you first need to go to your vehicle collection. Do this by either selecting the Garage option on the home screen, or pressing the button prompt at the bottom of some menus such as when you’re in campaign mode (it’s Square on PlayStation and X on Xbox). When in your vehicle collection, select the vehicle you wish to upgrade to enter the Vehicle Management Screen. There, you can select Powered or Ultimate to upgrade your chosen vehicle, and also spend skill points to unlock and equip various perks.

Unfortunately, you can’t just upgrade your vehicles willy-nilly – you need valuable resources. To upgrade from Stock to Powered requires a fair amount of credits or an Upgrade Token. More credits or two Upgrade Tokens are then required to upgrade from Powered to Ultimate. These can be earned by simply playing the game, and it’s better to use Upgrade Tokens rather than credits to upgrade vehicles where possible. Skill points can also be earned by simply playing the game. While upgrading to Powered and Ultimate will increase the stats of your vehicles, using skill points will allow you to tweak them even further. Give it a go!
