These Baldur’s Gate 3 Low Cost Cosplays are Brilliant and We Can’t Wait for Astarion

Baldur's Gate 3's Astarion, a pale elf, stroking his chin.

Given how popular the game is, it’s no surprise that people are cosplaying as its many appealing companions. But one Thai cosplayer, Lonelyman, aka Low Cost Cosplayer has knocked it out of the park with his low cost Baldur’s Gate 3 cosplays.

Low Cost Cosplayer is famous for creating some accurate but spectacularly silly cosplays with everyday household items. His fame has led to some companies sponsoring him and his recent run of Baldur’s Gate 3 low cost cosplays looks to be a similar deal.

But that doesn’t make them any less awesome, as he works his way through the Baldur’s Gate 3 cast. So far he’s cosplayed as Lae’zel, Minsc and Karlach. Karlach is our favourite BG3 character but as far as these Baldur’s Gate 3 low cost cosplays go, Minsc is by far our favourite.

Oh, sure, we tip our hats to him for using a chicken foot to create Lae’zel reaching for the screen pose. But his recent Minsc cosplay is just brilliant. He dresses up as Minsc’s hamster, Boo, then draws on his thumb to create Minsc. He’s a talented artist and body painter, which assists him in pulling off these cosplays.

It’s not clear just how long Low Cost Cosplayer is going to keep going with these. We’ve got our fingers crossed that he’s going to get at least as far as Astarion. That’s partly because we’re dying to see how he looks. But it’s also because we’re imagining how the ‘real’ Astarion would react to seeing his imitator. Who knows, maybe Astarion actor Neil Newbon can be persuaded to offer his opinion.

You can follow Low Cost Cosplayer on Twitter, which is where he posts all his cosplays. And if you’ve yet to pick up Baldur’s Gate 3 it’s currently 10% off on both PC and PlayStation 5 (there’s no discount on Xbox).

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
