A new Monster Hunter game is on the way.
It’s perhaps not all that surprising, considering the last mainline entry was 2018’s Monster Hunter World, but we’re excited for it all the same. It looks like it might be a departure for the series, too. There’s not much to go on just yet, but it appears that it could be an open world game. And there are some definite things that its announcement trailer gives away.
For one, it appears you’ll have a fantastical mount, looking like a cross between a lizard and a bird. It can apparently run at great speed, and also glide when needs be to help you get down from high places safely. We also see that has carrying bags on it – might you be able to use it to store items as well as change weapons and the like? We’ll have to see.
Other things given away by the trailer include increased monster density, with the hero charging through a pack of docile creatures while being pursued by multiple monsters seemingly eager for a ruckus. And then we get the revelation that Monster Hunter Wilds will have some sort of weather system, with a large dust cloud rolling in as well as lightning. It all seems rather dynamic and exciting.
This sixth mainline entry in the Monster Hunter series is set for release in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. That’s unfortunately some time away, but Capcom has promised to unveil some more information about the game in the summer of 2024. We can’t wait.
Until then, check out the Monster Hunter Wilds announcement trailer below.
