Our First Look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Has Left Us Excited for More

As part of Xbox’s Developer Direct livestream event yesterday, we’ve had a good first look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Coming from Bethesda and MachineGames – the developer behind Wolfenstein – this is the first Indy game since 2009’s Lego Indiana Jones 2. And that alone is enough reason to be excited.

Honestly, it’s a bit of a travesty that we’ve gone a decade-and-a-half without an Indiana Jones game. We’ve had plenty of Tomb Raider games and Uncharted games – both of which we’ll all happily agree are heavily inspired by Indiana Jones. But where’s the man himself been? Nowhere to be seen, until now.

Set in 1937, between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle puts players in the driving seat of an all-new adventure. This is a single-player experience, with the focus on action and storytelling. You’ll take on the role of Indiana as he faces off against some sinister characters on a race to find a powerful, ancient artefact. Yup, sounds like Indy.

Judging by the trailer, which you can watch for yourself below, it seems like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle may well be worth the wait:

To learn more about the game, you can watch the full 13-minute Developer Direct presentation. In it, Executive producer Todd Howard and game director Jerk Gustafsson, along with other members of the team, provide some excellent insight into what to expect from the finished game. It seems that MachineGames is a team made up of Indiana Jones fans, so their passions have been directly carried into the game.

The bad news? Harrison Ford won’t be voicing Indiana Jones, although MachineGames has recreated his likeness with the character. Instead, industry veteran Troy Baker will be providing the voice of the lead character. As confirmed by Entertainment Weekly, other voice talent includes Tony Todd, Marios Gavrilis and Alessandra Mastronardi.

While Indiana Jones and the Great Circle doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s expected to release later this year. It’s coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC – and it’ll be available on Game Pass on day one.
