Ubisoft Reveals Open Beta and Post-Launch Plans for Skull and Bones

Skull and Bones

Despite it launching on 16th February, just over two weeks away, we still feel like we know little about Ubisoft’s upcoming Skull and Bones. That’s all set to change, though, thanks to an upcoming open beta.

Ubisoft has announced that the Skull and Bones open beta will run between 8th-11th February on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It will support cross-play and cross-progression, too, so you’ll be able to try it on multiple formats while still playing with your friends and keeping your progress.

You’ll be able to play and reach an Infamy cap of tier 6, earning up to five exclusive rewards in the process including skip cosmetics, a weapon, an emote and a Pandal Lemur pet. On top of that, you’ll seemingly be able to carry over your progress to the full game when it launches on 16th February, giving those who participate a head start.

As well as announcing an open beta for Skull and Bones, Ubisoft has also given a bit of information regarding its endgame content and first year of post-launch content. Apparently, after proving themselves as legendary pirates in the main game, players will face more dangerous challenges where there are higher stakes and alliances can quickly turn into rivalries. They’ll go up against the kingpins they were once working with, build a smuggling empire, and control “manufactories” across the Indian Ocean. Add Legendary heists and Hostile Takeover activities into the mix, and it sounds like there’ll be plenty to do.

Skull and Bones Year 1 Roadmap

New endgame features will be apparently be added each season, too. Four of these have been announced so far: Raging Tides, Chorus of Havoc, Into the Dragon’s Wake, and Shadows of the Deep. These will presumably last three months each, and will see players going up against legendary pirate lords such as Philippe La Peste and the Hubac Twins.

Using the new weapons, ships and resources introduced each new season, many obtained by engaging in new world events that will be added, players will need to strategise in order to take these legendary pirates down.

As ever, while Skull and Bones officially launches on 16th February on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, Ubisoft+ subscribers get access to the game three days early on 13th February.
