Coral Island is getting a huge 1.1 update, here’s the roadmap

We loved Coral Island when it released late last year. We deemed this gorgeous farming and life sim better than Stardew Valley — which is a very bold statement indeed. It’s still true, though: thanks to a beautiful, polished art style and a huge, huge amount of activities in the game, it’s a rich life sim with endless possibilities.

And it’s about to get even better. Developer Stairway Games has just released the first part of a roadmap for Coral Island, laying out the changes coming to update 1.1. This roadmap is part one of two, and it focuses on land updates. The second part will delve into what changes are coming to the ocean.

Coral Island roadmap

Stairway Games has laid out a rough roadmap of what we can expect from the next three updates to the game. Obviously, much more content is planned for the upcoming update 1.1, but we have a lot to look forward to in the future, too.

There are, however, no dates as to when we can expect these updates to land. Update 1.1 has no set date, but we’ll have to wait until April to get part two of the roadmap breakdown, which looks at the underwater stuff. So we’d expect the actual update in the game to land sometime after that in late spring. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Coral Island update 1.1 promises a lot of stuff

But whenever it arrives, Coral Island update 1.1 has a lot of stuff for players to look forward to. There’s a new town rank (S), where players who have achieved more will be rewarded for it.

Along with this, a new town rank category — Attractions — will be added once you’ve reached town rank A, encouraging you to build new attractions to please your townsfolk and bring in new visitors. Exactly what the new attractions will be remains to be seen, but there’ll be at least a gym and a ramen shop.

Speaking of tourists, a new group of them will visit you on a seasonal basis. Called Tourist Backers, they’ll visit two seasons each year, coming in their own unique seasonal outfits. You can chat with them but, sorry, you won’t be able to romance them.

But for those villagers you can romance? A new bunch of hangout spots will be coming to Coral Island update 1.1. You can invite dateable NPCs to various locations, which will earn you friendship points as you get to know the person better.

We’re perhaps most excited for new story content, too, but the roadmap doesn’t give away much information about this.

There’s much more to come, which you can get a sneak peek of in the full Coral Island update roadmap. We’ll be keeping a close eye on the blog, and look forward to being able to play the new content in the game this spring.
