Do you need help matchmaking so you can play Helldivers 2 with friends? Here’s everything you need to know.

Available now on PS5 and PC, Helldivers 2 is designed to be played in co-op with up to three other players. And, thankfully, matchmaking with friends on either platform is very easy. So if you know others with the game, joining forces is nice and straightforward. Read on to find out how to play Helldivers 2 with friends.

Before we start, it’s important to note that there are currently a few launch problems affecting matchmaking in Helldivers 2, particularly on PS5. So if you’re having problems, it’s likely related to this. A patch has already landed on PC, and one is expected imminently on PS5, so sit tight.

To find your friends in Helldivers 2, the first thing you need to do is head into the ‘Social’ menu. Press the options button, then toggle over to ‘Social’ with the shoulder buttons. If you’re playing on the same platform as your friends, you should see their names already in your menu. If they’re not, don’t worry: they’re very easy to add.

On the Social menu, press triangle/Y, and you’ll be generated a ‘Friend’ code. That’s a code to give to your friends, who then can add you to their game. It needs to be typed into the search box at the top of the screen. Once it’s typed in, your name should be brought up, giving your friends the option to add you as a friend.

Once they’ve added you and you’ve accepted their request, you should both appear on each other’s friends list. From there, you can then select their name, and invite them to join your game. They’ll receive the invitation and, upon accepting it, they’ll be teleported to your ship.

You can then start a mission by going to the War Table, and your friends will automatically accompany you.
