A Paranormal Activity video game is currently in development, it’s been announced. Coming from DreadXP and Paramount Game Studios, the blockbusting found footage series is getting the video game treatment.

However, not much more is known, other than it’s coming. We’re left speculating over what type of game this is. “An interactive game experience”, the press release says. It will “bring the franchise’s groundbreaking found-footage style to horror enthusiasts in surprising new ways, immersing them in a story that expands upon the lore and world of the films”.

Whether this is a single-player story-driven game, then, or a multiplayer experience, is not made clear. We’re hoping for the former, and that seems more likely. After all, Paranormal Activity doesn’t exactly lend itself to the typical multiplayer horror video game.

We’ve got a while to wait for Paranormal Activity: Found Footage to materialise: it’s slated for a 2026 release. It’s set to come to “multiple platforms”, so likely PC and consoles, and we’ll find out additional details at a later date.

We’re certainly intrigued about this one, and hoping for a truly scary single-player experience. DreadXP is known for the likes of The Mortuary Assistant and My Friendly Neighborhood – both single-player games and both generally well-received – so we’ll remain hopeful until we find out more.
