CCP Games is an acclaimed development company responsible for bringing the popular MMORPG EVE Online to life – after 20 years, it still boasts over 10 million players. Under the leadership of Petursson, CCP was one of the first gaming companies to embrace web3 technology.

Following Petursson’s opening speech, more panels, talks and partner showcases will follow. a16z Games’ Andrew Chen will talk about fundraising in 2024; CEO of Shrapnel, Mark Long, will talk about how to launch a gaming token; and CEO of Ambrus Studio, Johnson Yeh, will talk about how utilising web3 technology can improve gamer retention. There’s also Sangho Kim, the chief games officer of South Korean gaming company NHN, who previously announced their intentions to build a product on Sui.

Anthony Palma, the leader of gaming partnerships and investments at Mysten Labs, said of Play Beyond: “We want to bring the focus of web3-powered gaming back to the fun of the games themselves, where veteran game developers can leverage Sui to create seamless, unique, and sticky user experiences for their players. Play Beyond will help showcase the tremendous potential of web3-powered gaming to developers, regardless of whether or not they’ve explored web3 in the past.”

Interested? Play Beyond is free to attend and is taking place on 19th March at 40 O’Farrell Street, San Francisco, CA. It’ll be followed by a media-only hour and a VIP closing party. Register by going to http://go.sui.io/sui-gaming-summit.

Editor in chief // Kim's been into video games since playing Dizzy on her brother's Commodore 64 as a nipper. She'll give just about anything a go, but she's got a particular soft spot for indie adventures. If she's not gaming, she'll be building Lego, reading a thriller, watching something spooky or... asleep. She does love to sleep.
