Warhammer 40,000 comes to PowerWash Simulator, and it’s glorious

PowerWash Simulator Warhammer 40,000 1 (1)

In the grim darkness of the future, there is only war… and cleaning. You can’t go into battle with dirty equipment after all, can you? What kind of message does that send to your opponent other than you don’t have discipline or maintain your gear. Unluckily for you, you’re on cleaning duties. But when it comes to PowerWash Simulator, it’s actually cause for celebration.

Just what makes PowerWash Simulator so addictive? It’s a mystery, like the existence of Bigfoot, or why American chocolate tastes like sick. All we know is, you put it on, choose something to clean, and before you know it hours have passed and you’ve moved on from your original cleaning target once or more. Chances are the same will happen if you pick up the latest expansion for the game, based on Warhammer 40,000.

We sat down to clean the first of the five vehicles that the Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack offers up to players – an Ultramarine Land raider, gargantuan in size – and though it took a considerable amount of time to make squeaky clean, we then moved onto a Dark Angels Deathwing Redemptor Dreadnaught and after that an Astra Militarum Rogal Dorn Tank without so much as a pause. We would have continued with the House Hawkshroud Imperial Knight and Blood Angels Thunderhawk, too, if it wasn’t nearly three in the morning.

Anyone already familiar with PowerWash Simulator will know the score: each of these dirty behemoths is placed before you, and armed with a PowerWash device and an assortment of accompanying tools and attachments, you’re free to go about cleaning it as you wish. You can just use your PowerWasher and its default nozzle, or you can get a little more involved and use different nozzles for different tasks and perhaps even get a spray involved along with some cleaning liquids. It’s up to you.

Of course, it’s Warhammer 40,000 fans who are familiar with the objects being cleaned here that are going to get the most out of the expansion – they’re going to be most enthusiastic about Dreadnauts and the like, after all. Even if you’re not a Warhammer 40,000 fan, however, you might be interested just because it offers some new and exciting things to clean. It’s not as if heavy machinery such as tanks and what are essentially giant mechs appear much elsewhere in PowerWash Simulator’s offerings.

What we find particularly neat about the Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack is how things like the step and scaffolding that you can use to help your cleaning endeavors are also themed, helping you get immersed in the world. And as ever, as you clean each vehicle you’ll be given titbits of information them. Our only complaint is, like the rest of the jobs in PowerWash Simulator, there’s no music provided to spur you into action. You’ll need to provide it instead.

Ultimately though, if you’re a PowerWash Simulator player who has ever dabbled in the world of Warhammer 40,000 or remains a keen fan, the Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack comes highly recommended. All five of the vehicles it has for you to clean offer up their own challenges, and they’re all impressive pieces of kit in their own right. Ardent fans of the game unaware of the world of Warhammer 40,000 might even want to pick it up too, as its jobs are a bit out of the norm. And like other pieces of paid DLC, it even introduces new achievements/trophies.

The Warhammer 40,000 Special Pack for PowerWash Simulator is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch and PC.
