Ending later today, Revolution Software’s Kickstarter campaign to fund a physical version of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged is over 1000% funded.

That’s not a typo. One thousand percent. Funded ten whole times over. It seems the people absolutely love George and Nico, and who can blame them? With a target of £50,000, the Kickstarter has reached £577,688 with 4,599 backers at the time of writing. And with a few hours still to go until the clock strikes done, we think it’ll still climb up a little.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged was announced back in August 2023. It’s a full remaster of the first game, complete with repainted 4K backgrounds, redrawn character sprites, reworked character expressions and a whole lot more. It was happening either way: the Kickstarter didn’t dictate the future of the project, it was simply to fund a physical Collector’s Edition.

And well, it seems people love collector’s editions, especially when they contain figurines of George Stobbart. Alongside a physical edition of the game, the Kickstarter also includes a fancy Broken Sword art book and the soundtrack on Vinyl, which can be bought as add-ons or as part of a larger bundle.

If you’re not familiar with Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars (why?!), it’s a point and click adventure game that originally released in 1996. It puts players in control of George Stobbart, an American tourist who gets caught up in an explosion in Paris. As he says, that explosion was to “change his life forever”: he’s soon embroiled in a deep mystery involving a cult, templars and hidden treasures, and he sets off on an adventure that takes him to all corners of the world.

Interested in a boxed copy of the remaster? You’ve got a few hours left to grab the Kickstarter. There’s no confirmed release date, but according to the Kickstarter delivery dates, we can expect Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged to land digitally in June with the physical edition to follow in November.
