Final Fantasy VII Rebirth patch notes: Improvements to graphical options and more

Today, Square Enix has rolled out a new update — version 1.020 — to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and glancing at its patch notes, we can see it improves the game’s stability, graphical options and various aspects of game functionality. We already thought Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was excellent, but we’ll gladly welcome some small tweaks to make it even better.

The key thing noted in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth patch notes is the addition of a “sharp” or “soft” option for graphical output when players opt for Performance Mode. A major complaint of the game has been how soft the visuals are when playing at a higher framerate, so hopefully this toggle helps satisfy more players. It comes in conjunction with overall improvements to graphical quality and frame rate, so the game should look better than ever.

You can read the full patch notes for version 1.020 on Square Enix’s website, but we’ve summarised the most important points below.

  • Improvements to graphical quality
  • Improvements to frame rate and game stability
  • Addition of “sharp” or “soft” option when playing in Performance mode
  • Added difficulty selection to the customisation screen of Fort Condor and Gears and Gambits minigames
  • Reflected reversed camera controls while controlling a gliding sky chocobo and in the sharpshooting minigame
  • Fixes to bugs that froze enemies in battle under specific conditions
